| i would like to reach others in my area - anywhere in Louisiana - who have been victims of police abuse of power when they reported a rape, or if you know someone who was treated badly by police when they reported a rape..
my 17 year old daughter was a victim of rape 3 years ago. it was
reported to the police in lake charles louisiana where we live. the
police gathered practically no evidence. evidence that we were able to obtain was turned over to police where it was either misplaced or accidentlly destroyed. we contacted rape crisis outreach and were told that they have had many complaints from victims and we should contact the mayor which we did. he did not respond and would not take any of our calls. we sought advise from several lawyers who all told us that the police have imunity and can pick and choose what crimes they wish to investigate.
Hopefully we can find others
out there willing to band together with us to demand rights for these
victims.
please, anyone, either a victim or someone who knows about a victim, please contact me. I will respect your privacy but I very much would like to talk with you.
thank you. And thank you to Women's Justice Center for being so helpful to those in need of your services.
