My name is Laura. I live in Tucson, AZ . I am very blessed to have a loving family and a large home. Over the past few years I have come across women in need of a place to stay while trying to get away from an abusive partner. I have welcomed them into my home and been blessed by thier friendship and presence.
Today as I honored Martin Luther King I was struck by the realization that there are many more women and children out there who need this kind of help and I wondered if there was any kind of a cooperative set up to shelter women on thier journey to safety besides the large group shelters. A system where people open their hearts and homes and help these heroines start a new life where they can learn to dream. I am very interested in founding one if one does not already exist and thought you might be able to give me some insight. Thankyou for taking the time to read my letter.
