Here's an excellent, comprehensive new guide for women everywhere on how to use international human rights law and entities to denounce violence against women.

Documenting Women's Rights Violations by Non State Actors
Activist Strategies from Muslim Communities
by Jan Bauer and Anissa Helie
http://www.wluml.org/english/pubs /pdf/misc/non-state-actors.pdf
(This document is 93 pages and may take time to load with dial up internet services.)

Although put together with a focus on Muslim women's perspective and experience, this guide is applicable, indeed essential, for all who work to end violence against women as a human rights violation. This document provides excellent summaries of international human rights laws and treaties, and how to apply them to violence against women. The corresponding international human rights organizations are described, along with detailed instructions for women on how to gather and document evidence, and present your case to these organizations. The document is thorough and well laid out, right down to the detail of giving all the committee addresses you'll need, and includes report forms in the appendix.

It's been more than a decade since the UN declared women's rights to be human rights. In one place, this document gives you all the information and direction you need to make that declaration a working reality in seeking redress for violence against women.
