MESA's Multicultural Gathering Call for Proposals (Indiana)
Call for Presenters and Workshops
MESA is seeking innovative and interactive workshop proposals on all aspects of sexual violence prevention. Workshop topics need to address prevention in under-served and under-represented communities; proposals that engage in a culturally competent approach to traditionally underserved populations are critical to the philosophy of this Gathering.
We particularly welcome workshops/presentations that focus on strategies for building grassroots mobilization and community organizing rather than simply social service delivery. Proposals are due on February 19th by 5pm.

UNFPA sends urgent lifesaving supplies to pregnant women in Haiti
UNITED NATIONS, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- With Haiti having the highest rate of maternal death in the region, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is prioritizing assistance to pregnant women in areas affected by the devastating earthquake in Haiti, said a UNFPA press release issued here Thursday.
"During periods following a major natural disaster, women often lose access to basic health services," said the UNFPA press release.

I have a friend that was brutally raped 2 yrs ago and since has been going down hill. Our close friends and her mother fear the worst and want her seek help. Due all depression she been kicked out of school which means no insurance. She is a great person and I was wondering if you may know of any free group therapy in the Los Angeles or if you have any advice. Her rape happened while studying abroad and it happened to be by a family friend. I know this is a lot of info but I just want to find the right kind of help. I have had no luck and most have been for gay or lesbian or AA. Thank you

A partir del asesinato de Josefina Reyes Salazar, defensora de derechos humanos y el peligro en el que se encuentra Cipriana Jurado Herrera, quien lleva casos de violencia militar, AI ha encendido los focos rojos para alertar a la Procuraduría General de Justicia de Chihuahua (PGJ), a la Secretaría de la Defensa Nacional (Sedena), y a la Secretaría de Gobernación (Segob) para que garanticen la seguridad de quienes defienden los derechos humanos.

A Mexican girl who was held captive by human traffickers and later managed to escape tells Channel 4 News how she witnessed babies and children being "sold to order" to American citizens.
